November weddings~

tot i'd blog abt the november weddings i attended first, before chenda's bday celebration because that has much more pics and will take longer to blog and thus longer to publish a post.. heehee..

was invited to 2 of my run mates' (i.e. the "run" aka batch of pple tt joined my ex co on the same day as me.. ) wedding... the bad thing was that it was back-to-back weddings on the SAME weekend.. One was a sat dinner and the other was a sun lunch... not only did it leave me broke, it also left me dam tired and without a wkend.. =(

oh well, still wldn't have missed it.. worth sacrificing my weekend for.. heez

17 run mates excluding the bride! a rare sight to see so many of us together since the majority of us have left the co.~

the bride was extra pretty tt nite. i guess cuz she normally dun wear make up.. and cuz her make up was fab tt nite, she looked especially gd! love her dress too! so princess-y

the orh-nee.. dun like it.. consistency was like glue.. too thick!

 

overall the wedding was not bad... food was ok except for the dessert..

oh!! my convertible dress suddenly came undone when we took a final pic with the bride n groom upon exiting the venue.. after taking tt pic, i turned and suddenly felt like my dress was unwrapping! i quickly grabbed watever i cld and heng i wore a cardigan.. so i used it to cover up and rushed to the toilet to re-tie! phew~ no one saw except one of my runnie who tried to help me.. haha..

nxt time need to pin liao when i wear this dress again..

:: Adelene's Wedding @ Shangri-La Hotel 20.11.2011 ::

LOVE her wedding date! so easy to rem loh! but heard tt there were ALOT of weddings going on on that day..

it was my first wedding lunch! and also first time attending a wedding at Shangri-La!

but $120 for lunch is rather exorbitant.. but... ok la, for my perthie trip girlfren cum mj kahki (the original 4!) plus a v nice girl, its worth it!

solemnization started at noon and i was a lil late.. missed the walk in but din miss much of the ceremony.. the JP was hilarious.. what "u have been promoted from S to M (single to married)" and "remember to update your facebook status".. haha.. and he ended off with "huat ah!".. apparently he is a hotly coveted JP..

one thing abt Ade's wedding is tt she really went for the best of everything! from her bali wedding, to her well known photographer + videographer (moo media), to a wedding reception at shangri-la, to a hotly coveted JP! applause for her effort in putting it all together and pulling off a wedding every girl wld wish for!

oh! her wedding was chinese fine-dining style.. i.e. the dishes get apportioned at the side and served to us on our own individual plaes.. not like the usual style where the waiters just put the dish in the middle and all of us tuck in.. another first for me and another differentiating pt of the wedding! haha

dew's baby is dam cute la! he's not v frenly to strangers but he sure loves to post for the cam! (must have picked it up from his dad man.. ) he esp loved my iphone cuz of the bling bling cover.. haha.. his mum says he sure like my phone cuz v bling! and true enuff! he posed for my cam~ still got 3 diff pose sia! major cute

and he also initiated "playing" with me! his mum was sitting in between us and he like looked at me from the back of his mum, then moved to the front of his mum to look at me.. so i played along and move front and back too and tried to hide frm him.. haha.. i realise babies like to play this "game" hoh.. haha

ade's 2nd gown.. so shimmery tt she looks like a mermaid frm afar! great choice of gown!

the WOW element in the whole wedding for me was definitely her Bali wedding video highlights! it was so pretty and sweet and really looked like a movie trailer lo! vvv impressive! want to post it here but i can't cuz the bride only uploaded it on fb..  guess u can try to view it at the below url =)

the bride also rented this photobooth thingy where u can take pic and they print out for u on the spot.. only cld print one copy but u can download the soft copies from a website they provided.. these are the shots we took...

made them bigger so can see the small pics too..

 and my ottd was this dress from F21! i super heart this dress i tell u! the top black part is 3D rose bud pattern (i.e. not just printed on the cloth) and the bottom is chiffon! plus its baby pink~ and the bottom part flares out so its perfect for pear shaped ladies like me..

 and one more of me in the dress.. this is my twitter dp now!

talking abt weddings, i counted and if all the pple who i know are getting married invite me and i accept all, i have abt 8-9 weddings to attend nxt yr! scary in terms of time and money! omg, can they spread out the weddings pls? haha

oh well, at least i got a break and have no weddings to attend in Dec 2011~ ahha.. my next one is on 1.1.12 tho! o_O

13th Mth "Bonus"

came across this interesting blog post so i tot i'd share it w all of u..

"To me, February is the only month you get paid correctly in the whole year in Singapore. Employers in Singapore will never overpay you in February. Fat hope and you know it. There are four weeks in a month and we get paid for 28 days in a month. that's it. Straightforward.

In short we are underpaid in every other month other than February.

January - 3 days

March - 3 days

April - 2 days

May - 3 days

June - 2 days

July - 3 days

August - 3 days

September - 2 days

October - 3 days

November - 2 days

December - 3 days

3 + 3 + 2 + 3 + 2 + 3 + 3 + 2 + 3 + 2 + 3 = 29 days.

The shorter way to calculate this would be:

1 month 4 weeks.

You get paid 12 times a year = 12 x 4 = 48 weeks.

There are 52 weeks in a year. 52 - 48 = 4 weeks unpaid

The fact is that Singapore employers hold 29 days of your pay over the year and could refuse to pay you your rightful money if you did not 'perform'. Even if they do it, that meant many employees in Singapore did not get any bonuses from their companies at all. The 13th month is your pay. It is Not a bonus!

In reality, if they pay us back the '13th month bonus', they employer still owe us 1 day's wages (29 - 28) and get away with it year after year, decade after decade. If you leave the company before the year is up your '13th month bonus' is forfeited instead of pro-rated. That's robbery. "

To summarise, the writer is saying tt if the only mth we are paid correctly is in Feb, which has 28 days (most yrs!).. so means we are underpaid for the rest of the days for months which has more than 28 days (which is every mth except feb)..

adding up those xtra days that are in excess of 28 days, it comes up to 29 days a yr..

so our 13th month "bonus" is actually our pay for those xtra days..

and since the "normal" no. of days we are paid a mth is 28, every yr our employer owes us 1 day of pay (2 days, for leap yrs.. hehe)!

so the 13th mth is actually part of our pay and not part of our bonus! dam it.. now i feel cheated! esp after working 4 yrs in a co. that doesn't pay 13th mth at all! =(

as mentioned, here's the stuff i bot from my trip to ZH and HK! (the only stuff i bot from macau were my fave contact lens which are not available in spore.. and food stuff for my colleagues)

bot this pj set from one of the small lanes @ causeway bay.. think abt SGD 10? can't rem.. but i actually wanted this other my melody pj which was cuter.. but dun haf size.. so settled for this one.. gonna cut the pants into shorts tho..

misc stuff i bot frm ZH... elmo socks and other socks, my melody stickers, angry bird stuff, a set of markers which costs only SGD3 (there's like 24 markers!), my melody scissors.. and some combs and mirrors.. and a longchamp-inspired bag..

the socks are dam cheap la.. 3 for RMB 10 (SGD2).. in SG, socks are usually 3 for SGD 10.. haha

and the array of longchamp-inspired and agnes b-inspired bags and pouches we got from ZH.. the agnes b pouches are mostly gifts.. but they're not cheap! SGD 5 each.. after much haggling.. at first was SGD 7 each.. this is considered ex cuz normally can get such pouches for SGD 3-4 dlrs..

- then on the top is toe nail fungi treatment.. - 2 boxes of my beauty diaries masks... SGD 12 for 2 boxes cuz i caught the buy 1 free 1 promo.. heehee

opi! costs abt SGD 2 per bottle.. i think its fake but who cares la.. haha.. and the nail polish remover at the back also costs SGD 2 per bottle..

and my iphone 3 cover on the right which i have no use of now.. think i'll sell it..

and bot this bag from a HK street at Central.. from an old lady..tt's why din really bargain w her.. SGD 10.. perfect for travel toiletries etc.. (although i think its suppose to be used as a bag cuz there's a detachable sling)

 this dam kawaii POUCHES! yes! its mini chanel-inspired pouches, not bags! see the remote for size comparison.. mum bot these cuz she tot they were dam cute... dam ex but the original selling price was like SGD 50? we got it at a disc!

and my lovely dusty pink bag! paid SGD 30 for it after bargaining.. initial price was SGD 50+.. one of my best buys i must say.. love soft leather bags! there's 2 diff designs each side... this is the front...

and this is the back! i love it cuz it looks abit like miu miu! haha

and one of my last few purchases were these duffy mini bears! the left is a hp hanging thingy while the right is a magnetic duffy which u can hang on ur bags (as seen in my pics abv.. heez).. SGD 15 each..bot from HK airport..

other than these buys, also bot jurlique powder tt can help keep ur face matte.. jurlique really MUCH cheaper at HK airport lohz.. i think easily $20 cheaper per item! (shu umera too~)
