10th June 2012: Huaiwen's Wedding

Another super laggy blog post =X

They say, you build the closest friendships during secondary school days.. however, it had been different for me.. my closest friendships, at least those tt i still keep in contact with, were formed in my JC days..

and I was also extra lucky to have formed close ties during my Uni and uni hall days! still keep in contact with all these grps of friends even tho i've graduated for quite a while.. =)

Anyway, as i was saying, one of my closer grp of friends is my uni friends..  actually we are a rather small grp.. only 3 of us but sometimes we are joined by another girl and guy.. 1 of my friend is Yu shan, who is actually also my JC classmate! I still remember tt we bonded over F4 last time and she even helped us cut queue when we went for Zai zai's autograph signing session (ok, hide face.. haha)! anyway she was the only one frm my JC class who ended up in the same uni and course as me and we naturally stuck on to each other during our 1st sem in uni...

and we got to know another girl, Huaiwen, apparently cuz we needed to do proj in grps of 4 and Huaiwen approached us to do the IT proj tog (this is frm wat huaiwen recalls.. i have totally zero recollection of this.. haha)! and frm tt time onwards, we always do proj together when we can choose our own proj mates! and it also helps tt our surnames are soooo close to each other.. Khoo, Koh and Koo.. so for some projs, we are auto placed into the same grp.. haha.. ohhhh! and all 3 of us stay at serangoon area! like less than 5 mins away! sooo convenient for car pools (esp in our last sem when i was no longer staying in hall)!

Ok, to get to the pt of this blogpost, Huaiwen recently got hitched! Hers was a simple wedding affair tt was held at the function room at the National Library at bugis area..

The couple only invited abt 100 family + friends.. (but i think they held another separate banquet to pacify the relatives..) was happy to be invited to withness their union!

20th Oct 2012: Nuffnang's HP Topshot Tea Party~

First read abt this event on Yina's blog and decided to try my luck and registered for it.. I say "try my luck" because only 15 pple wld be picked to attend the event..

So was really delighted when Melissa from Nuffnang SG called me to inform me that I have been selected! =)

Some background abt the event first:
This event was held mainly to introduce HP's latest innovation - the HP Topshot LaserJet Pro M275. It is targeted at budding blogshop owners/ entrepreneurs to show them how this latest HP product is able to help make their life simplier (more abt this later..)~

As such, 3 bloggers-cum-entrepreneurs - Yina, Jessica and Velda also graced the event to share on how the HP Topshot Printer/Scanner has helped them in their daily blogshop operations...

Newpaper Big Walk 2012~

We decided to take part in the Newpaper Big Walk this year!

This yr, the fam (mainly my sis, her bf, chenda and me.. and wx) have been trying to go for regular walks weekly.. we normally go to Bishan/Ang Mo Kio Park and walk a round which is approx 2.6-2.7km.. it'd usually take me abt 30mins to complete the walk..

so, catching on to our walking "craze", sis and her bf suggested tt we take part in the Big Walk! I agreed and we decided to drag mum along for some much needed exercise..

:: 2nd September 2012, Sunday ::

Had to reach Clarke Quay's Central at 745am.. zzz..

headed out before 7am on a SUNDAY to take NEL..
decided not to drive cuz of the crowd + don't know to park at starting or ending pt.. haha

 reached Central!

look at the crowd!
mad hate.

 and off we go!

i really hate the starting pts of walks/marathon cuz its always so slow moving and crowded!
and this Big Walk, i don't understand why they must start at such a small area.. Plus, at the beginning of the walk, we had to walk thru an underpass.. pls la, sooo many pple and one tiny underpass, of course there's bound to be a jam! so, many of us walked over the underpass (by crossing the road) instead.. quite bad planning on this part..

the walk was frm Central at Clarke Quay and it was through Raffles Place and ended at Marina Barrage!

supposed to be 5km but I don't know why my Nike app registered 7 km... lousy..

yay! finished the walk!

was sooo dehydrated but thankfully they provided free H20! really felt much better after downing one pack of H20..

anyway, we decided not to join nxt yr alrdy... cuz its $20 ($18 aft grp disc) per pax and they didn't need to baracade the road or anything.. so basically, even if you don't pay, maybe you can also walk tog! and also, you can walk on your own another day when there's no crowd..

but the good thing was there was this bingo game along the way where you were suppose to collect bingo numbers as you walk (they had numbers placed all along the route).. and if you can cross out one row of numbers on your bingo card, you win prizes.. but none of us won anything! haha..

good workout nonetheless tho we packed back the calories burnt immediately by having old chang kee curry puff + artease milk tea (there was another carnival ongoing at Marina Barrage).. lol

Mum's 60th Birthday!

My posts are like all jumbled up in terms of sequence!

And I'm making it worst by posting this now.. haha.. but no choice cause this post is relatively shorter and hence easier to blog abt.. =)

:: 1st Oct 2012, Monday ::

Mum turned 60 on this day! This year, the celebration is much more low key, considering we already threw her a $2-3K chinese 60th birthday dinner last year! Plus its a weekday so we could only celebrate with her over dinner..

Asked mum to choose the dinner venue because she's the bday girl.. and she chose this Zi Char place at Serangoon Central cause she said it was recommended by her friend for good Zi Char food..

Pics of food first!

Sweet and sour pork which had a strong pork taste and was not crispy enough..
this is usually one of my fave Zi Char dish..
